aCerno, Inc. considers the protection of your privacy to be of paramount importance. aCerno is a data cooperative that collects only anonymous data from participating member web sites. The information we receive is completely anonymous. We do not know the name, telephone number, mailing address, email address or any other personally identifying information about the user. We use this anonymous data to create shopper profiles to target products and offers to Internet users. When Internet users view participating web sites, aCerno, or our partners, replace the ads they would ordinarily see with ones that are more relevant based on historical shopping profiles.

Cookies and other Technologies

aCerno collects anonymous information through the use of cookies and pixel tags, which are industry standard technologies used by many major web sites. No personally identifiable information is collected or used in this process. A cookie is a small data file that is sent to your browser, which may then be stored on your hard drive. In addition to our use of cookies, aCerno also utilizes a common Internet technology called "pixel tags". Our pixel tags are placed on our clients' web sites.

What information is collected by aCerno?

When an Internet user visits a web site of one of our members, we collect and store information about the visit. The information we collect relates to online shopping behavior and transactions, including, but not limited to, products views, sale transactions, and other anonymous shopping data.

How is this anonymous information used?

aCerno uses the anonymous information it collects to customize the advertisements that consumers see on participating web sites and to analyze if the advertising resulted in sales. At times, we send our members the aggregated anonymous data for their use in determining what products and offers to show their site visitors. The specific source of the data is not disclosed. Each member has warranted that the anonymous information they receive shall be used in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In accordance with applicable laws and regulations, aCerno will also disclose this information in response to subpoenas, court orders and other required legal processes.

How is this anonymous information secured?

We store this anonymous information securely at an aCerno data center. We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. This includes the necessary physical, electronic and managerial procedures to protect data integrity, access and use.

What are my choices? How do I opt-out of the aCerno cookie process?

There are two ways you can stop cookies from being stored on your computer, and therefore, stop aCerno from storing and using this anonymous information:

  1. Block all cookies (from aCerno and everybody else) by globally or selectively disabling cookie use in the browser configuration; or
